Here is some good news for the state: Sure seems like the economy is rebounding. People have money to start traveling to Hawaii on vacation, and that would seem to be a definite indicator of disposable income.
Pacific Business News (Honolulu, Oahu) posted a story under the headline; Hawaii’s hotel occupancy up 7.1% last week. The piece was posted on June 18, 2010.
Pacific Business News says that according to an industry report, Hawaii’s hotel occupancy rates last week rose 7.1 percent relative to the same week last year. Real estate has also been picking up in some areas.
PBN cited The Hawaii Hotel Industry Snapshot, which is developed by Smith Travel Research and the Hospitality Advisors as finding that last week’s hotel occupancy was reported at 70.3 percent. All in all, the article went on to say that Oahu had the highest occupancy rate of 70.3 percent, a healthy increase of 9.5 percent. Maui was noted as having a 69.2 percent occupancy, which translates to a 4.6 percent ride over last year. Kauai actually had the most impressive leap in occupancy, with nearly an 11.3 percent rise, giving the Garden Island a 67.9 percent occupancy rate. The Big Island was a laggard with only 1.1 percent rise, giving it an occupancy rate of 51.3 percent.
The good news for Hawaii travelers is that even as the rooms began to fill, Pacific Business News reports, the state’s average room rate actually dropped to 1.7 percent less than the year prior— to $170.15. Oahu, the most populated island, could really use a bigger boost to it’s real estate market.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports accidents and injuries down for Memorial Day, Memorial weekend, but comparable
I just returned from the great state of Washington and Dallas and it is time to post over here. At least Memorial Day accidents didn’t increase this year. It sounds like they certainly would have done so if not for the efforts of the Missouri Highway Patrol in concert with caring citizens and organizations.
In Jefferson City the Missouri Highway Patrol released its Memorial Day weekend accident statistics last Tuesday. All in all, I suppose this is bad news if you are a Dallas DUI attorney but good news for everyone else. Yes a DUI attorney probably would clean up.
The MHP reports that the number of Labor Day weekend injury accidents decreased from last year, and the number of Labor Day weekend injury accidents decreased from last year.
Apparently, for 2010, Memorial Day weekend traffic accidents in Missouri were comparable, however, close to how they were last year. It was reported that there were 270 traffic crashes between Friday at 6 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. Monday. Of those crashes, 133 people were injured and there were nine fatalities. There were 157 DWI citations issued. I am not sure right now about the DUI category but there were probably a lot of DUI as well.
The Missouri Highway Patrol joined in CARE, or the Combined Accident Reduction Effort. CARE is a nationwide movement conducted on holidays to prevent trouble when the roads are heavily traveled.
The Missouri Highway Patrol also partners with the Operation Ten Mile Trooper, which assigns a trouper to every ten miles on major roads like I-70 and Highway 63. With the expected numbers of cars on roads this weekend, the Highway Patrol department put all of its personnel on the road.

Baltimore County official involved in 2 auto accident
In some unfortunate and tragic news coming out of Maryland,
4 term Baltimore Councilman Bryan McIntire was mixed up in a 2 auto traffic accident just a few days ago.
In a bright note, there was no personal injury to the said official himself or the as-yet unidentified driver of the other vehicle in question. All in all, details were not full, yet policeman Lt. Robert McCullough did confirm the accident on late Friday afternoon.
For his part, he said that he (McIntire) was traveling southward when he then tried to make a left turn over to Timonium Road. That is where the trouble started, apparently. In other related news, it has been reported that the Route 72 is closing next week due to an accident reconstruction.
All in all, it appears that the area between Route 40 and the Old Baltimore Pike over in Newark for the reconstruction of a particular auto accident. It seems that this specific closure in question will happen at 9 a.m. Someone may need a touph Baltimore accident lawyer
